We just had a client who was flying to Switzerland June 17,2016, but she got sick on the flight. There was an emergency landing and she was taken to the hospital.
She is now being evacuated to her home in the states.

The cost for her illness and evacuation will run around $100,000. This is a recent evacuation claim and it is running smoothly.

Never go on a trip without evacuation insurance unless you are ready to write a check for $100,000 or more.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16318720339570587414noreply@blogger.com27tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5165429600683344101.post-78181628481145449032014-10-27T14:35:00.000-07:002014-10-27T14:35:39.368-07:00Travel and Evacuation Insurance

medical insurance is important for both business and personal trips.
Most health plans either personal, group, or Medicare with a supplement
will cover emergencies out of the country. The problem is that the
physicians and hospitals you may go to can ask for payment before any
services are given.

None of these US plans will cover evacuation
back to the states which can run $100,000 or more. The international
Health plans all cover evacuation to a place that can best give you help
and then back to the states.
There are plans that you can buy
which cover multiple trips for one price and one plan per year. These
plans are usually for 30 or 45 trips during the policy year. The cost
usually runs around $250 to $300 annually and they include evacuation
coverage.
Trip cancellation coverage allows you to cancel a trip
that was prepaid for medical or other reasons and get your non
refundable money back. These plans can be combined with medical so even
on the trip,if something goes wrong, you can get medical bills paid or
evacuated. Think of getting sick on a cruise ship and needing a
helicopter to fly you to the nearest hospital.
We always recommend that evacuation insurance be taken out for any trip which would include medical and possibly trip cancellation insurance.

I can't imagine the cost to bring the 2 sick Americans home in the special jet equipped for isolation.
No domestic medical plan will pay this cost.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16318720339570587414noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5165429600683344101.post-86458192974451805322014-07-09T13:23:00.001-07:002014-07-09T13:23:26.524-07:00 What to do after you bought your travel insurance

1 When you get your policy, check the information printed. Make sure the names, dates of travel, and destination is correct. Its best to correct the information before the trip, then to fix problems after the trip.

2 The policy you get will have links to the policy documents including your ID cards.
Print these out and take your ID card with you on the trip along with the phone numbers of the company Eisenberg Associates. Our 24 hour cell phone is 617-827-8470.

3 Review your policy before the trip and ask your agent questions before the trip.
We are reachable 24 hours per day if you need us during your trip. The cell phone is always on.

Have a great trip!
This is the type of insurance that will send you to the best place to take care of you should you have an accident or have a severe sickness.
So even if you feel that your own health insurance is adequate, you still need to consider evacuation insurance.
A friend of a client recently went to Italy and came down with a severe staff infection.
The cost to bring him home to the US was over $100,000.
The insurance would have been a tiny fraction of this amount.
You are spending enough on your travel not to skimp on a really important benefit that can turn a catastrophe into just a problem.
Talk to us about evacuation insurance.
We have many options for you.
