Travel insurance
We just had a client who was flying to Switzerland June 17,2016, but she got sick on the flight. There was an emergency landing and she was taken to the hospital.
She is now being evacuated to her home in the states.
The cost for her illness and evacuation will run around $100,000. This is a recent evacuation claim and it is running smoothly.
Never go on a trip without evacuation insurance unless you are ready to write a check for $100,000 or more.

Travel and Evacuation Insurance
Travel Medical and Trip Cancellation Insurance
Oct 27 2014
- Travel medical insurance is important for both business and personal trips. Most health plans either personal, group, or Medicare with a supplement will cover emergencies out of the country. The problem is that the physicians and hospitals you may go to can ask for payment before any services are given.
None of these US plans will cover evacuation
back to the states which can run $100,000 or more. The international
Health plans all cover evacuation to a place that can best give you help
and then back to the states.
There are plans that you can buy which cover multiple trips for one price and one plan per year. These plans are usually for 30 or 45 trips during the policy year. The cost usually runs around $250 to $300 annually and they include evacuation coverage.
Trip cancellation coverage allows you to cancel a trip that was prepaid for medical or other reasons and get your non refundable money back. These plans can be combined with medical so even on the trip,if something goes wrong, you can get medical bills paid or evacuated. Think of getting sick on a cruise ship and needing a helicopter to fly you to the nearest hospital.
